Jack Onsgard was a cherished figure in Janesville, Wisconsin, and the long-time owner and esteemed proprietor of J-R Guns and Ammo is leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories, camaraderie, laughter, and a profound legacy in the firearm community.

A familiar face at countless gun shows across the state of Wisconsin, Jack traversed the region, forging bonds and making enduring friendships wherever he ventured. With his affable nature and quick wit, he easily endeared himself to all who crossed his path.

Jack was more than just a businessman; he was a beacon of warmth and laughter, a confidant, and a steadfast companion with an unwavering passion for firearms. It was during these travels that Jack’s keen eye often spotted firearm oddities, each acquisition enriching his unique and eclectic collection.

Jack’s magnetic personality endeared him to all who knew him. Whether gathered around the grill, hitting the shooting range, or cruising the open road on his beloved Harley-Davidson. Jack’s passions were as diverse as they were infectious, drawing people together and creating lasting memories.

For more than four decades, Jack devoted himself wholeheartedly to his craft, honing his skills, sharing his vast wealth of knowledge and expertise with countless individuals throughout the state from all walks of life.

His vast collection of firearms evolved over the years, reflecting his diverse interests and passions. From his special fondness for 1911’s, AR-15’s, Ruger No 1’s, Derringers, Glocks, to anything chambered in 45 70, custom and historic knives, and even canons, each piece held a story and a place in his heart. It’s been said that he has the largest collection of Bronco Survival Rifles in the country.

Among the treasures of his collection, Jack’s beloved 30 caliber M1919 held a special significance. Serving as the family Christmas tree for many years, adorned with twinkling lights to mark the holiday season, it stood as a symbol of his unique spirit and love for tradition.

His legacy of laughter, friendship, and passion for firearms will endure as a testament to a life well-lived.
